Polygiene StayFresh
Polygiene’s aim is to bring about a world where we wash half as often, and where products last more than twice the time they do today.
There are enormous positive environmental gains to be achieved from this.
For instance, just skipping one out of ten washes shows a reduction in total toxicity and large improvements on CO2, microplastics and water use.
StayFresh is based on a silver salt solution. Sweat, heat, and humidity are nourishment for bacteria and they will grow and die in ever-increasing numbers.
This treatment simply makes it impossible for them to multiply.
The result – it stops the odour at the source to make your items stay fresh, and it works for the lifetime of the garment.
These are lightweight and thin trousers that are perfect for summer day hikes and multi-day treks where you want protection from the sun and light wind and rain but also don’t want anything that will cause you to overheat.
The fabric has good abrasion resistance, helped by its stretchiness and it sees off light rain well. Once saturated, we found that it had a quick drying time. As for the fit, our tester tried these in a 32 inch waist – his usual size – and he says they fitted perfectly, without the need for a belt.
In our tests, what we liked best about these is their StayFresh technology. It’s a permanent treatment within the fabric’s fibres that’s able to block the growth and spread of nasty, odour-causing bacteria. The result? You can genuinely wear these more and wash them less – just what you want from a pair of hiking trousers, particularly when you’re on multi-day treks.
